Luann Guzzetti Richardson - Gymnastics
Luann Guzzetti Richardson, a native of New Galilee PA, attended Beaver Falls high school from 1975-79. During that period, she helped to lead her gymnastics team to four section, two WPIAL and two PIAA state titles. She was the first ever Beaver Falls freshman to compete in the PIAA state championship, where she earned second overall in the uneven bars. In addition, she set numerous records during her four years. While in high school, she also competed nationally, against advanced and elite gymnasts, as a member of the Gym Dandy’s private gymnastics team in Washington, PA. She then earned a full scholarship to the University of Alabama where she earned all-SEC status and numerous awards. Her team finished 4th nationally in her senior year. Her high school teammate and cousin, Teri Turconi, attended the University of Florida on an athletic scholarship during that same time period.
Personally, she is married (29 years to Bill Richardson, also a Beaver Falls graduate) and has 4 children: Ryan 27, Nathan 24, Gina 21, and Tara 17. She is a member of St. Malachy church in Kennedy/Robinson township and currently resides in Sewickley.
Professionally, she is a graduate of the University of Alabama (1984) and the University of Pittsburgh. She has a clinical doctorate and research doctorate in nursing and health sciences. Having served as a professor at Duquesne University for 14 years, she is now an associate professor at RMU. She also practices clinically/consulting, in the fields of cardiology, gerontology, and behavioral health – locally, as well as in Washington, Greene, and Westmoreland counties. She has published numerous professional articles and has presented on health related and scholarly topics both nationally and internationally.
Her hobbies include hiking, biking, reading, and socializing.
