"Big John" Jackson - Community Service
“Big John” was a truly respected and beloved icon in the Beaver Falls community.
He was a standout athlete for Beaver Falls High School in the early 1940s. He excelled at both basketball and football, going on to become a semi-professional football player.
Afterward, out of love and respect for his family, he returned to his hometown. Mr. Jackson became a Beaver Falls Police Officer on October 22, 1951 and walked the beat for 20 years. He was then promoted to Captain and went on to serve as a Deputy for the Beaver County Sheriff’s Office from 1977 until his retirement in 1984.
He also took great pride in his involvement with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, Civic Improvement League of Beaver Falls and Fraternal Order of Police. He is fondly remembered by all for being one of the most trusted, fair and honest officers in the community.
